Blockchain to store your assets
Think of blockchain as a giant notebook that is shared with the whole world. Every time money moves, a new line is written in the notebook. Once it’s written, it can never be erased or changed. Everyone can see the notebook, but nobody can secretly alter it.

When you open Greenhood, we create a SAFE account for you. You can think of it like a safe at home where you store your valuables. Only you have the keys. We at Greenhood don’t, and no bank does either.
That’s what “self-custodial” means: your assets are really yours. If you put something in your safe, only you decide what happens with it. That also means you have sole responsibility for what happens, and that Greenhood can not revert any mistakes.
What is a seed phrase
The seed phrase is like the master key to your safe. It’s a list of words that unlocks your wallet if you ever lose your phone or need to recover your account. With this key, you can always get back inside. Without it, no one, not even Greenhood, can help you.
This is why it’s vital to write it down and keep it somewhere safe, away from your phone or computer. Treat it like your most important key, because it is.
Greenhood as a platform
Greenhood is more than just a wallet. Think of it as a central hub where different financial services come together in one simple app. Instead of juggling between multiple accounts and providers, Greenhood brings everything into one place so you can focus on using your money, not managing the technology behind it.
At the moment, two key partners are connected to Greenhood:
- Monerium provides your personal IBAN (a standard European bank account number) so you can send and receive money just like you’re used to.
- Gnosis Pay powers the VISA card, which lets you spend your money in shops, restaurants, or online, anywhere VISA is accepted.
Greenhood ties it all together so these services feel like one smooth experience.
Adding money
When you open a Greenhood account, you also request a personal IBAN through Monerium. An IBAN works just like a traditional bank account number: friends, family, or your employer can send euros directly to it.
The difference is that your IBAN is connected to your Greenhood wallet. When money arrives, it appears instantly in your wallet, ready to use. You also have the freedom to decide which account inside Greenhood it flows to. For example, your Gnosis Pay card will have its own separate account, making it easy to keep everyday spending apart from savings or other purposes.
Spending money
With Greenhood, you can choose the way that best fits the moment:
- Send to friends or family using Greenhood: peer-to-peer payments are instant and feel as simple as sending a message.
- Send to any IBAN: through Monerium, you can transfer money to any European bank account, whether it’s for a bill, a business, or a friend.
- Pay in stores and online: with your Gnosis Pay VISA card, you can use your Greenhood balance anywhere VISA is accepted. You can also add the card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet to pay contactless with your phone.
All of this happens seamlessly within Greenhood. You decide how to move your money, whether to a neighbor, a shop, or across the world, and the app makes it happen.

In the process, you’ll download the app, create your wallet, and connect with our partners Gnosis Pay and Monerium. It may take a bit of time to verify everything, but once complete, you’ll have a secure wallet that is truly yours, your personal gateway to the internet of value.
Download the app
Start by downloading the Greenhood Wallet from the App Store or Google Play. Once installed, open the app and follow the on-screen instructions.
Open a new account
When you first open Greenhood, you’ll be asked to create your wallet. This automatically generates your personal SAFE account; your own digital safe. Remember, only you hold the keys, and your seed phrase is your ultimate backup.
Onboard with Gnosis Pay
If you want to use a VISA card for everyday payments, you can onboard with Gnosis Pay directly from the app. It only takes a few simple verification steps. Once approved, you’ll be able to request a virtual or physical card, and even add it to Apple Pay or Google Wallet. Through Greenhood, this card is free of charge!

Note: Physical card delivery usually takes about a week. In some cases, Gnosis Pay allows up to two weeks, so don’t worry if it takes a little longer.
Onboard with Monerium
To receive and send money through a standard European IBAN, you’ll complete onboarding with our partner Monerium. After verifying your identity, you’ll get your personal IBAN linked directly to your Greenhood wallet.

Note: Your IBAN request may take a few days to be approved. If you haven’t received any update within 5 working days, we recommend contacting Monerium to check on the status.
Securing your account
Your Greenhood wallet is designed to give you full ownership of your money and assets. With that freedom comes responsibility: securing your account properly is the most important step you can take.
Seed
When you create your wallet, you’ll receive a seed phrase: a unique list of words that works like the master key to your SAFE account. Write it down on paper and store it in a secure place, away from your phone or computer. Never share it with anyone.
To be sure you’ve backed it up correctly, Greenhood will guide you through a quick recovery check. This confirms that you’ve written the words down accurately and that you’ll be able to restore your wallet at any time if you ever lose your device.

PIN and biometric locks
For daily access, you don’t need to use the seed. Instead, protect your wallet with a personal PIN code, and where possible, enable Face ID or fingerprint recognition. This keeps access fast, easy, and secure.
