Decentralized Applications (dApps) are applications that run on a blockchain network instead of a centralized server. They use smart contracts to execute functions and transactions without the intervention of a central authority. This offers advantages such as increased security, transparency, and reliability. For the user, this means significantly more possible functionalities and freedom in using financial and other services. In the context of Greenhood, for example, dApps can be used to convert fiat currency to EURe, but also for a wide range of other financial transactions and services such as loans, insurance, and investments. Because these applications are decentralized, users can benefit from lower costs, faster transactions, and a higher degree of control over their own data and money. Therefore, the world of dApps opens up new possibilities that go beyond traditional centralized applications.
Greenhood's partners are Monerium, Gnosis Pay, Ideas2Goals, Apperium, Jaaf Design, and Safe.
Cow Swap offers a convenient way to convert your EURe to other coins on the Gnosis Chain. You can easily swap your EURe for other coins via Cow Swap, but swapping only takes place within the same chain. Currently, the Greenhood wallet only shows EURe. Although you still hold the other coins after swapping, you cannot view them directly through the Greenhood wallet. Multi-coin overview support is on the roadmap.
Data on the blockchain is essentially public. Greenhood currently ensures privacy as follows: First, transactions via Monerium and Gnosis Pay are 100% anonymous. Direct wallet-to-wallet transactions are protected because your account address is anonymous. This could mean, for example, that if you pay at a bakery and the bakery knows your address, they can track all your transactions on the blockchain. We obviously don't want this, and we expect to introduce 100% privacy by 2027, with your data protected on the blockchain. Until then, you can introduce additional privacy yourself by configuring multiple accounts in your wallet and using only certain accounts for direct crypto payments to other wallets/accounts. You can always transfer money from one account to another, ensuring that no one can determine exactly how much money you have in your wallet.
You can find the Greenhood essentials under Settings/About Greenhood.
Yes, you can connect multiple wallets to your Gnosis account. Log in to app.gnosispay.com, then go to the settings under "Safe Owners" and add your wallet/account address as a Safe Owner, as well as the Sign-in wallet.
Yes, there's a spending limit set to €350 by default. You can easily adjust this limit in the Greenhood wallet via Settings/Contactless Payments/Gnosis Account/Settings.
The Greenhood wallet is supported from iOS 17 and Android 7. For Dapps, a minimum of iOS 17 and Android 10 is required. The Greenhood wallet may work on older versions, but this is not guaranteed.
not yet, but it is coming soon.
There's a seed per wallet that holds funds for all your accounts in your wallet. The seed proves your ownership of the accounts. Each account has a unique key generated based on your seed. This key can be used for applications where a third party, such as Gnosis Pay, needs to debit funds because you used your card.
No, at this moment Gnosis pay does not have a card for business users
Currently, there are no fees for a standard account. This may change in the future.
Currently, Monerium doesn't charge fees for either a standard or business account. This may change in the future.
If the IBAN is requested after you applied for your Gnosis Pay card at Gnosis, this should be very quick. However, Monerium will perform a profile check, and if you don't meet the expected profile, your application will be manually reviewed. This can take up to 5 days. If it takes longer, please contact us at support@greenhoodwallet.com.
This can take up to five days because Gnosis must perform mandatory KYC checks. In some cases, they may ask for additional information, and it may take longer. Note that if they request documents to prove your address, such as a utility bill, you must send color-coded documents that are no older than three months. You can track the application status by logging in to app.gnosispay.com. In case you don't get response after 5 days, please contact us at support@greenhoodwallet.com
You can ask Gnosis Pay for help via the chat function at the bottom right of app.gnosispay.com or send an email to: help@gnosispay.com
No, the Greenhood wallet app is not yet available on Linux
Currently, you can request assistance by emailing info@greenhoodwallet.com. You can also join our Telegram community: https://t.me/+WvOWbdyXkxIxMDU8. You can also find detailed instructions and frequently asked questions (FAQs) at www.greenhoodwallet.com.
Currently, Greenhood only supports EURe on Gnosis. We expect to add Multicoin support in 2027, which will also allow you to store bitcoin in your wallet.
This is still being worked on. Currently, you can request one or more business IBANs from Monerium and link them to the accounts in your wallet. Unfortunately, Gnosis Pay doesn't yet offer a business card. Greenhood is also working on an analytics app that will allow you to easily view and process your business income and expenses in your business administration.
Not at the moment, but we are working on making this possible in the future.
No, unfortunately not. This is a legally required step during the KYC (know your customer) process with our partners Gnosis Pay and Monerium.
You can run your app on Macs with an M1 chip or higher. Support for Windows PCs is not yet available.
You can find the steps in the "how-to" instructions at www.greenhoodwallet.com/support. Start with the instructions: https://www.greenhoodwallet.com/how-to/how-to-begin-with-greenhood
The Greenhood Wallet app is currently supported on MacBooks with an M1 chip or higher. If a browser version of the Greenhood Wallet becomes available in the future, older versions will also be supported as long as the MacBook supports the browser version.
Yes, of course
Greenhood is a cooperative you can join and invest in. Furthermore, certain features (e.g., extra security keys, Gnosis Pay cards, IBAN) will eventually become payable. The basic crypto payment package will remain free.
Not directly. You'll first need to deposit your money into a bank account and then transfer that money to your Monerium IBAN linked to your wallet.
Yes, if you enter the same seed on both phones, you'll have the wallet on both phones. You can also use a second phone account for authentication when making a transaction on the first phone. This is called multi-sign.
This isn't supported by Monerium. You can, however, grant multiple people access to your accounts. You are always responsible for security, so be careful who you share it with!
There are currently no plans for this. If the owners of the Florijn create a tokenized version on Ethereum, it will eventually be possible to add the Florijn to the Greenhood wallet.
Greenhood doesn't charge transaction fees. However, Greenhood currently passes on energy (gas) costs (costs for the Ethereum computers). This will be incorporated into Greenhood commercial plans in the future.
Yes, the Greenhood wallet combines self-custody crypto and IBAN/card payments.
This was done to help users transition to paying with crypto, and to ensure that crypto payments can be made easily everywhere.
For each EURe, a prescribed equivalent of 102% is held by Monerium in separate accounts
No, because your money is stored in crypto (EURe) on the Ethereum blockchain, and Monerium provides 102% of the equivalent in euros. This equivalent value means Monerium doesn't need to provide a bank guarantee, as every EURe is covered by the equivalent value.
You can access your funds by using the Greenhood wallet app or another wallet app. Your wallet is self-hosted, and Greenhood does not manage your funds.
The Greenhood wallet is still under development. Currently, you can use it for everyday spending. Once multi-signature (multiple signatures) per transaction is available, you can better secure your accounts and consider storing more funds in your wallet.
EURe is issued by Monerium which holds the full reserves for EURe with European banking partners
Not at the moment, but we are working on making this possible in the future.
Yes, as long as the sender can send money to a European IBAN
Not yet, but that's the ultimate goal. Once Greenhood has made multi-signature and security cards available for added security for larger amounts, you'll still need a bank account for cash deposits. Monerium will also need to support direct debit and automatic transfers.
Not through Greenhood. Your transactions are visible on the blockchain. If your address is known, the government/tax authorities can track your transactions. Monerium and Gnosis Pay are regulated and must share data legally and upon request.
Yes, you can use the Gnosis pay card anywhere in the world where Visa is accepted.
No, you absolutely can't. Your seed is the key to your assets on the Gnosis blockchain. If you lose it, you lose your funds. Therefore, make sure you have a copy on paper or a USB drive. Also, make sure the backup isn't stored in the cloud. You could also install your wallet on a second phone so you always have a single point of access.
Your funds on the blockchain can no longer be withdrawn if you lose your Seed.
Gnosis Pay offers a payback program that pays you weekly in an amount based on your EURe spend. See https://gnosispay.com/rewards for terms and conditions and the model.
By "pay anywhere," we mean that payments can be made anywhere a payment terminal is available and no pre-authorization is required. Self-service gas stations are therefore not expected to be supported until the end of 2026.
Congratulations, we're glad you can get started! What you need to do now is transfer an amount from your bank account to your Monerium IBAN. This amount will then appear in your Monerium wallet within one day. If you then want to pay with your Gnosis Pay Visa card, you first need to transfer an amount from your Monerium account in your Greenhood wallet to your Gnosis Pay account in your Greenhood wallet. Once this is done, you can pay with your Gnosis Pay Visa card up to the amount you have in your Gnosis Pay account.
While the internet is a medium for exchanging information, blockchain is a medium for capturing and exchanging value. Blockchain significantly simplifies administrative (money and value) processes and enables the creation of a space where payments are straightforward, ownership is truly yours, and the path to financial freedom is open to everyone.
The EURe is a stablecoin issued by Monerium. A stablecoin means its value is stable and, in the case of the EURe, pegged to the euro. When you transfer euros to your Monerium IBAN account, Monerium invests them in short-term government bonds. Monerium is legally obligated to hold 102% of the euro as equivalent value for the EURe it issues.
Monerium is based in Iceland (part of the European Economic Area) and uses SatchelPay, UAB, Lithuania ("Satchel") and AS LHV Pank, Estonia ("LHV") to issue IBANs. When you transfer money to your Monerium IBAN, Monerium will invest the funds in short-term government bonds and then create EURe in the wallet on your blockchain. If you transfer money from your Greenhood wallet to a different IBAN, the process is reversed. Monerium will then remove the EURe from your wallet and transfer the amount in euros to the IBAN you specified.
Blockchain technology is inherently very secure. As long as you protect your Seed (private key) well and don't share it with others, no one will gain access to your funds on the blockchain. If you lose your Seed, you lose access to the blockchain, and with it, your money. It's therefore crucial to keep a copy of your Seed on paper or a USB drive somewhere safe. Also, make sure you don't share your Seed with others. Greenhood is developing technology to sign transactions with multiple keys. This will allow you to ensure that large amounts or certain accounts require two or more keys before they are executed. For example, if this key is left at home and you lose your phone, your money is still safe.
You can do the following to make it more secure. First, make sure you save a copy of your Seed (private key) on paper or a USB stick and store it safely at home. Avoid storing this Seed in a cloud. Second, it's wise to secure your wallet with a PIN and/or biometric lock. Third, you can install your wallet on a second phone so you always have access to your funds if you lose your phone or Seed. Once Greenhood introduces multi-sign, it's wise to secure certain accounts and transactions involving larger amounts with a second or even third key.
Greenhood is a cooperative with the goal of achieving digital sovereignty. Based in the Netherlands, Greenhood is working with partners Apperium in the Netherlands and Idea2Goals in India to develop the self-hosted Greenhood wallet app. Monerium (Iceland) and Gnosis Pay (UK) are also partners, providing IBAN and Visa card payment services to users.
